Consider yourself lucky

It's not easy following your dreams, but you can if you really want to. I have lived in Alaska for 5 years now, and soon, very soon (hopefully) I will be moving to a different state. I am starting a new life over here, across the ocean far away from my original home. It's always hard to decide to move somewhere else, let alone to a different country, but sometimes you have to do what feels best for you. I consider myself very lucky, to be where I am today. The challenges and rough journeys I have taken has only made me stronger, or so I'd like to think.

I consider myself lucky to live in the largest state in the US, to watch the largest mountain in the US from work, to have seen the northern lights so many times that I can't even keep a count of it, endless summer days in the field, being able to go to Denali national park for the day and lots of other stuff too of course.

Right now I am happy that spring is on its way....well slowly.

A Cabin In The Woods

A couple of weeks ago we had temperatures around -26 - -36 C quite frequently. Back then they were talking about -40 again as the lows but nowadays we are back up to above freezing. But back then I was (well I still am sitting) sitting in front of my wood stove with my kitty cat and relaxing. The good news are that it's getting lighter, and equinox already passed. When it's lighter the chances of crashing with moose is also significantly lower.. Another good thing about life here lately is the aurora. It has been active most of february but now it's really tampering off....

my Cabin

The Aurora is usually pretty consistent, at least in the northern hemisphere. If the nordic countries see the aurora, it is pretty likely Alaska will too.

Glowing Ice Fog - Diamond Dust

Diamond Dust

Temperatures have dropped again, and today we have -32C...again. The ice fog creates this glowing light that is just beautiful to see. There is a constant sparkling outside my window as the sun hits these particles. Hard to take pictures of, but I think I managed:

Sundog

It also creates this beautiful sund dog.

Glowing Denali

This past week you could actually see Denali peaking out. It was beautiful

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
