And then the Temperature Dropped

This week we have experienced a little bit of a colder weather, or I guess it actually started during the weekend. This morning it got down to about -4F. The nature always looks so beautiful during these low temperatures. And as I was waiting for the sun to rise I took some pictures. I usually don't like skiing when it's too dark out, since I am terrified of running into a moose on skis :) I like how pretty the trees look all dressed in snow.

Everything looks so peaceful with the snow, almost as if everything were asleep (which I guess it kind of is).

Sun finally rose and I could start skiing to work. I usually don't like skiing to and from work when it's dark, because I don't want to surprise/or be surprised by a moose. Some of the trails are kind of narrow too.

The temperatures are suppose to drop down to -30 to -40 tonight and tomorrow. We will see if the weather forecast is correct or not. Either way I am skiing to work tomorrow.

And then the Sun Rose Again

November 15th:That lovely pretty fabulous amazing snow multiplied the other day, so I spent another couple of hrs shoveling some snow. And then when you start thinking about how lovely all this snow is, we get a storm. Not just any storm, but rain/ice drizzle, the temperature increased 20F according to the airport, 20F in one and a half hour, How is that even possible?? .. All that wonderful beautiful snow that had been accumulated, even though I swore over it while shoveling....it all got destroyed. Such a disappointment. I literally thought the roof was going to fly off during the night, and woke up every now and then by some loud noise, making me go downstairs and check that everything was fine.

Well in the morning the snow looked just like it usually does after a couple of days with warm temperatures in the spring. All dirty with needles and branches all over the place. Made me sad. And I refused to take any pictures at all of the disaster. But it started to snow again today. And I should be happy, cause a lot of my friends don't have any power at all. I do, and even if I didn't I still would be able to heat up the cabin with my wood stove, so I should be lucky!

Have a happy weekend!

Be careful what you wish for...pt2

Good morning

November 10th:Saturday continued pretty smoothly, by the afternoon it started to snow. And then it snowed and snowed and snowed. And this morning it still snowed. Was greeted by this pretty view early in the morning:

I measured the snow on the steps off my porch and concluded that at least 5 inches had accumulated. So I think around 6 inches in total from yesterday until now. But who knows what the final number will be...

Morning trips to the outhouse

Morning business to the outhouse generated deep tracks in the snow...:

Sunday chore, shoveling snow..

And finally after the sun rose I decided to take that big step of shoveling...:
