Friday Theme, Big and small

Todays Friday theme is Big and Small! When you live here you always see contrasts like this big and small. How small we are on this planet! This huge planet, we are just a small small part of it. This is something I think about a lot.

These thermokarst, seen above can be huge! Such an amazing creation by mother earth but also so alarming.

This little baby bear probably had a big mama somewhere close....luckily we did not run in to them.

It's all about perspective, right? big and small, near and close. This large 18 wheeler truck looks pretty small in comparison to the mountains in the background. Have you guys ever seen a glacier? I can tell you that they are pretty big, and we are so small in comparison. This is from Juneau, and we spotted some people that probably had been ice climbing on the glacier. They looked so tiny in comparison to that huge glacier. Still see them? Sometimes the moon look so big, and sometimes so small. It is really fascinating how it can differ from time to time. Anyway, I still feel really small in this big big world. Now it's time to sleep! Have a good night!

Friday Theme, Books

With books in the center of the universe today, for the Friday theme I am inviting you into our book case. Which isn't that huge, it is pretty small actually. We have two bookshelves, the main one is upstairs and the second one is downstairs, and dedicated to cooking books.

Most of these are mine, cause I got into climbing when I got here, and winter happen, and darkness and that means that I had a lot of time for reading, and exercising in the gym....

These are mine too, but to be really honest, I haven read them since I got here (a few of them might have been purchased here..), I read them a loong long time ago. Seems like I could almost get rid of them....but it hurts a little in my heart when i throw things away.

This is the most recent book I bought, still haven't read it though. I bought it in a bookstore called...mermaid something down in Homer. I hope I am going to have time to read it this winter.

Friday Theme, Buttons

Buttons buttons buttons, I wish I had some pictures on my computer of the buttons I usually press on in the lab, but I don't think I have. But I can tell you that you do have to have your tounge right in your mouth to not screw things up. This picture my mom took of me and D in the lab, I am to the right and this is the place i spend most of my time in, during the summertime, and as I said, it involves a lot of buttons, even though you don't see them here... But I do have some buttons, like here on this machine :) I can't say that our stove has that many buttons but a few..

These machines has a few buttons, and we are driving arounf on these in the summer time.

I really wish I had some more to contribute to this friday theme, but I don't really have any more pictures of this. However, I can let you all know that the talk I had today, went pretty well. I wish I had done a better job but i have a few weeks to practice on it for the San Francisco meeting.
